Our 2022 Pinot Noir comes primarily from 20000 Vines Vineyard in the Ribbon Ridge AVA. The wine is a field blend of the classic French clones Pommard (48%), 115 (25%), Wädenswil (15%), and 777 (12%).
Composition - 100% Pinot Noir
Winemaking – Pinot noir fruit was harvested on October 14th and inoculated with RC212 yeast the same day. During 13 days of primary fermentation the must was pumped over once per day and punched down once per day. The must was then pressed and wine racked to tote. After settling, the wine was racked to barrel where malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine aged for approximately 15 months in neutral French oak and was racked two times prior to bottling in January 2023. The wine was not fined or filtered.
Notes from the Tasting Panel – In the glass, this sophisticated wine presents a red brick hue that darkens to red/garnet with the introduction of air. Aromatically, the wine delivers complex, old-world notes of cinnamon, baking spice, rose, plum, and turned earth. On the palate, a rich glycerol-fueled mouthfeel harmonizes with crisp acidity, soft tannins, spice, and red fruits. With proper storage, this Pinot Noir will continue to develop complexity over the next 5 to 7 years.
